Holter Monitor Testing

24–48 Hour Heart Monitoring for Irregular Heart Rhythms

Do you feel fluttering, racing, or skipped heartbeats throughout the day or night? Standard EKGs may miss intermittent symptoms. At Modern Family Medicine, we offer Holter monitor testing, a wearable device that records your heart’s activity continuously over 24–48 hours in real time.

What Is a Holter Monitor?

Holter monitor is a compact, portable device worn on your chest that tracks your heart’s electrical activity outside of the clinic—during normal daily routines, sleep, and physical activity.

Why Would You Need One?

You may need a Holter monitor if you experience:

  • Palpitations, racing heart, or skipped beats
  • Unexplained fainting or dizziness
  • Chest discomfort
  • Shortness of breath
  • Suspected arrhythmias not captured during a regular EKG

What It Can Detect

  • Irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmias)
  • Atrial fibrillation (AFib)
  • Bradycardia or tachycardia
  • Heart pauses or conduction blocks
  • Correlation between symptoms and heart rate abnormalities

What to Expect

  • Device Setup Time: ~15 minutes (in-office)

  • Monitoring Duration: 24 to 48 hours, depending on your provider’s order

  • Comfort Level: Lightweight, worn under clothes; no pain or shock

  • After the Test: Return the monitor; data is reviewed by our team

You’ll keep a symptom diary to note any unusual sensations or events during monitoring
